QUARTZ GLASS

Finished products made from block material

As one of the most valuable materials for industrial applications, natural quartz glass has a number of unique properties. It has a nominal purity > 99.99 weight per cent SiO2. Quartz glass has high temperature stability as well as displaying outstanding transmittance values in the UV and IR ranges.

Plates of natural quartz glass are produced from tubes. In this process, the tubes are cut open and, on exposure to heat, worked into plates.

The resultant slightly wavy surface is then fire-polished.

Synthetic quartz glass consists of amorphous silicon dioxide and is produced by flame hydrolysis. This non-crystalline and transparent material is particularly suitable for optical applications in the visible wavelength range and displays unchanging quality.
