what is Gorilla® Glass ?

Gorilla® glass from Corning is an alkali-aluminosilicate glass. Thanks to its substrate composition, a very high depth of layer (DOL) can be achieved through chemical toughening, making Gorilla® glass extremely scratch- and crack-resistant as well as flexible.

Gorilla® glass is mainly used as cover glass for smartphones and tablet computers. Basically, however, this glass is used in all areas demanding a combination of glass and high scratch and crack resistance.

Another property of Gorilla® glass is its high optical quality. This is attributable to the down-draw production process yielding high surface quality with minimal thickness tolerance.
